For 2010, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is completely redesigned into its ninth generation, and includes a new two-door coupe model in addition to a four-door sedan. A 2010 E350 BlueTEC diesel model will be added in the spring of 2010, while a station wagon model will be added in 2010, as a 2011 model.

The new E-Class features an all-new chassis, steering and braking system, a fourth-generation 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system, Direct Control adaptive suspension on V6 models and Airmatic for V8 models, standard AMG sports package on all models, and more interior passenger room. Available features added from the S-Class include Distronic Plus with Pre-Safe brake, night view assist, active multi-contour seats and rear-seat entertainment system, while all-new technologies making their debut for Mercedes-Benz include standard Attention Assist, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, LED daytime running lights, and available Lane Keeping Assist.

Sedan models are the E350 4MATIC and E550 4MATIC, both with all-wheel drive, and the E63 AMG, in rear-wheel drive only. Coupe models are the E350 and E550, both in rear-wheel drive only.

The E350 uses a 3.5-litre V6 and seven-speed automatic; the E550 uses a 5.5-litre V8 and seven-speed automatic; and the E63 AMG sedan uses a 6.2-litre V8 and seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. The upcoming E320 BlueTEC will use a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine.
